Father of 4 adult children including an autistic young man and step-father to a deaf-blind man with severe learning disabilities and complex health needs.

Studied German and Geology at Vienna University; Social Sciences, Social Research Methods and a period of post-graduate study on representing the voice of people with learning disabilities at The Open and Brighton Universities. Has been his autistic son’s primary carer since shortly after his birth in 1995.

Has worked in partnership with commissioners and service providers for over twenty years. Co-author of a Department of Education Early Support Training Module; founder of a network of after school and holiday clubs for disabled children; co-author of “A Trade in People” and “Variations in rates of inpatient admissions and length of stay experienced by adults with learning disabilities in England”; co-founder of Rightful Lives and developer of the Rightful Lives and Myownfrontdoor websites.
