Professor Chris Hatton, Dr Sara Ryan, Jeremy (Bethany's Dad) and Julie Newcombe have resigned from a CQC Review into the use of Restraint and Seclusion.

CQC

They resigned after the Dr Paul Lelliot and Ian Trenholm from the CQC spoke to the Joint Committee on Human Rights (which we usually call JCHR because it's easier).

Members of the JCHR like Harriet Harman MP and Karen Buck MP asked Paul Lelliot and Ian Trenholm questions about why they hadn't acted sooner to stop the abuse at Whorton Hall.

Especially because an earlier report, that the CQC did not publish, had said that there were a lot of problems at Whorton Hall.

Paul Lelliot and Ian Trenholm were very clever and came up with lots of long and complicated excuses and reasons about why it wasn't their fault that the abuse had happened.

Lot's of people on social media got very angry because the CQC hasn't accepted that it should have done more to stop what happened at Whorton Hall.

In his resignation tweet Bethany's Dad said that "your lame excuses and your pathetic reasoning over the Whorton Hall scandal sickened me"

Which seems to be how most people felt.
